Get a web page into Notion without the mess

Pasting straight from a browser into Notion brings the site's styling, its share buttons and its cookie banner along for the ride. Converting to Markdown first strips all of that, and Notion parses Markdown into native blocks when you paste it.

How to do it

  1. 1

Convert the page — or highlight the section you actually need and use Selection.

  2. 2

Check the Preview tab, then copy the Markdown.

  3. 3

Paste into a Notion page. Headings, lists, tables and code blocks arrive as blocks, not as styled text.

Worth knowing

  • Turn front-matter off for Notion — it has nowhere to put a YAML block, so it shows up as literal text at the top.
  • Keep image links on: Notion fetches remote images when it imports them.
  • Complex nested tables become HTML rather than a broken pipe table, which pastes more predictably.

Works the same way for anything that accepts Markdown paste — Linear, GitHub issues, Slack canvases.

Features this relies on

  • GFM tables
  • Code blocks that stay code
  • Whole page or just a selection
